Towels and Home

Featured Designer: Kitch

The holidays are officially here, and we’re turning to the dynamic husband and wife duo from Kitch to help us spread some holiday cheer! Erin and Tim’s success all started with printing apparel for their bands, which led to the idea that they could do this for a living. This idea quickly became a reality, and they have now been taking the market for kitchen and home accessories by storm, for ten years and counting. You won’t want to miss out on what Kitch has to offer! From festive holiday tea towels, to uniquely printed wine bags, aprons, table runners and more, you’re bound to find something that makes a perfect, new addition to your home!

1. Can you give a brief description of what your business is all about, in general? tea towel basket
I am a screen printer in Buffalo, NY & I specialize in fun printed goods & accessories for your kitchen & home.

2. What is the history behind your business?
My husband & I have both been performing in bands for years … He plays guitar, I play guitar & sing. (In fact, that’s how we met forever ago!) Anyway, we decided to stop paying someone else to screen print our band tees since Tim (my hubby) knew how to do it. We borrowed $200 from my mom (I mean, come on – we were both in bands so the $$ wasn’t exactly flowing!) & bought some used screen printing gear.

That was over 10 years ago, and we have been successfully self-employed now for the same 🙂

3. Where does your inspiration come from for your work?
I am very inspired by vintage – specifically mid century imagery & I love combining that with modern convince & color palettes.

4. What is your favorite part about your business?
I love creating something from nothing! Getting an idea and twisting & turning it until it’s a physical item is the best!

My screen printed tea towels are my fave! They’re such an easy way to add a pop of color to your kitchen without breaking the bank.

6. Do you have any future plans for your business?
I offer retail & wholesale pricing – but this year I’m hoping to add more wholesale customers & having Kitch be more of a presence in brick & mortar shops.

7. What advice would you give to someone who is aspiring to get into the craft business? Kitch-product display
Do your homework – do lots of research on pricing & availability, so you know what you’re getting into! Other than that – great pictures for online business & make sure you love your own product!
